Treatment is inclusive of hands-on manual therapy, a personalized exercise program, and can include modalities such as acupuncture, dry needling, and ultrasound. Our Physiotherapists use a variety of techniques. Their training equips them with a large skill set to draw on, to help find the best methods for healing. Osteopathy

Rehabilitative Manual Therapy - Embody Health Centre - Waterloo

Osteopathic Manual Therapy is a structural science with the therapeutic goal of correcting the motion of your body. This will allow for better function and synergy between the various systems of your body ensuring it can heal and regulate the way it should. Osteopathic Manual Therapy is hands-on and does not involve any sudden or aggressive motions ensuring your comfort at all times.

The goals in a course of treatment are not only therapeutic but also aim to educate patients about the “hows” and “whys” your body might be doing what it is doing. The journey to recovery is an active one and having a view of that journey is important to allow you to navigate it successfully.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture can be used to address issues such as, tension headaches/migraines, frozen shoulder, repetitive strain injuries, low back pain, menstrual discomfort, sciatica, knee and ankle injuries, arthritis and anxiety concerns.

Acupuncture is the insertion of single use, sterile needles into the tissue for the purpose of treating and preventing physical dysfunction and pain of soft tissues and joints. The needles are inserted through the skin, into underlying muscles and tissues at specific points on the body for the purpose of alleviating pain, relieving pressure on nerves, improving mobility, and re-establishing normal function. The insertion of needles helps to release natural chemicals including endorphins which is one of the body’s natural painkillers. These chemicals will either change the experience of pain or trigger release of chemicals that influence the body’s own internal regulating system. Contemporary acupuncture may also use electrical current to augment the treatment by further influencing  the structures and help provide pain relief.

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care focuses on diagnosing, treating, and preventing disorders of the musculoskeletal system, particularly those involving the spine.

During your appointment, a chiropractor will use hands-on methods for spinal manipulation and other manual therapies in order to help restore proper joint alignment, improve mobility, and relieve pain.

Chiropractic care is based on the principle that proper alignment of the body’s structure supports overall health and nervous system function.

While it is commonly used to treat back pain, neck pain, and headaches, seeing a Chiropractor can also help treat joint issues.

Chiropractors can provide lifestyle advice for outside of the clinic, including exercise programs and ergonomic guidance to help patients prevent future injuries and maintain long-term spinal health.
